Working collaboratively within the community, across the voluntary and statutory sector, we are able to provide a unique asset-based approach to community engagement and personal development, supporting people to access services and volunteer within their neighbourhood.
“I have helped at events in the park and the adventure playground to promote Toast and the huge assets that it brings to people. This gives me a purpose to come out.”
“In January my life was going no where. Suffering at home with my mental health issues. Today not even 6 months on they have all given me the confidence to speak to other people, to be around dogs for the first time in my life and I am 48 years old and now I’m a volunteer for the people and animals group.”
Steve Hubbard – a volunteer supporting us through our volunteering programme set up through our TOAST community projects, has a natural talent for photography, often inspired by the countryside whilst out walking in and around Wisbech. He takes wonderful pictures of the dogs and people at our events and runs our Instagram page. Gaining confidence around the dogs, Steve can also be found training Urwin during our TOAST sessions.
Jay Rix – a volunteer supporting us through our volunteering programme set up through our TOAST community projects, is a fantastic help out at our various community events, with her great love of dogs and her understanding and caring nature.
Denise Young – volunteering through our TOAST community projects, is an inspiring dog trainer and has a beautiful relationship with her dog Max. As well as helping us at school and community-based sessions, Denise is often found helping the children to gain confidence and trust where it is most needed.
